What is particularly lovely about this slim volume is that in a few, relatively brief moments, Flewelling captures the essence of her beloved characters and makes these important, liminal moments in their lives (back before they were the people they are “today”) completely believable. 3, wherein Alec and Seregil have become a comfortably established couple in a sort-of self-exile. To me, “Luck” and “Stalking” were both really good because they were a fine blend of Nightrunning action and also explored conflict and growth between Seregil and Alec.
